Solana Train-to-Earn DApp Offers Window Into AI Data Supply Chain

Solana’s new Synesis One app rewards artificial intelligence (AI) data providers with crypto. The app connects data providers with companies needing good data quickly. Synesis One runs its business logic on blockchain and decentralized data contributors can vote on the integrity of submitted data. Crypto Reward Scheme Offers Insight to Improving Transparency The data providers get paid crypto when their information is deemed valid by the community. Additionally, the crowdsourced data is fully auditable and traceable, creating a transparent supply chain between the sources and outputs of AI models.  According to Synesis, the app is the first project to incentivize the transparency of AI data collection. Other firms have needed political pressure to foster responsible data collection.

For example, companies launching products in China can only create AI products with data aligned with socialist ideals. In addition, firms have only 10 days to register generative products. So far, Chinese companies Alibaba and Baidu have released AI products using socialist ideals.  AI Data Providers Challenged to Limit Access However, companies in regions offering access to a wider range of information can magnify systemic biases exponentially. According to a report in MIT Technology Review, AI models can promote unfair discrimination when exposed to unfair data, for example, when considering the eligibility of job or loan applicants. Other data-intensive firms, including music streamer Spotify, were recently asked to curtail AI model access to copyrighted songs. Recently, the Financial Times reported on ongoing talks between Google and music labels to create more transparency on how music fans create new songs from existing tracks. The tool would allow artists to earn royalties from synthetic music scraping data from their earlier performances.
